Education and Training

Livengrin is committed to educating the community about the disease of addiction, the continuum of care, and recovery support services by sharing the knowledge obtained over 50 years of treatment expertise. To help meet this goal, Livengrin offers the professional education and training program to professionals working in allied fields. All offerings are conducted at one of the Livengrin training facilities and facilitated by credentialed professionals employed by Livengrin Foundation or other organizations.

Livengrin offers the following professional development training:

Social Work Continuing Education Units (CEU)
Annually, 15 Livengrin training offerings provide CEU’s for Social Work and Professional Counselors. These are provided in conjunction with Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. As a CSWE accredited program, the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research at Bryn Mawr College is a pre-approved provider of continuing education for social workers, professional counselors, and marriage and family therapists in Pennsylvania and many other states.

  • Family Dynamics of Addiction
  • Group Counseling

Internships at Livengrin

Internships at Livengrin

Livengrin Foundation supports internship and practicum opportunities for those qualified students who are obtaining undergraduate or graduate degrees in the fields of social work, counseling, or psychology. Livengrin believes providing these opportunities supports advancement of our Foundation and the field of addiction treatment. Learning is an ongoing process that enables us to better service the community and continue to establish our leadership in the industry.

During placement, students are provided with the following professional development opportunities:

  • Students will be assigned to a credentialed supervisor for direct supervision
  • Use their specific skills and knowledge
  • Introduction to family, individual, and group psychotherapy
  • Psychoeducation observation and co-facilitation
  • Education regarding clinical documentation/Electronic Medical Record (EMR) requirements by first reviewing and later producing clinical paperwork such as group notes, bio-psychosocial evaluations, treatment plans, supporting patients with goal identification, and discharge summaries
  • Attend group supervision with Livengrin’s clinical team
  • Exposure to Utilization Review activities
  • Attend Livengrin’s Training Program offerings (free of charge)

Please note, all practicum and internship opportunities are unpaid. All interns must undergo a Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check and sign all required documents, including a Confidentiality Agreement and Livengrin’s Code of Ethics, prior to engagement. Obtaining Professional Liability Insurance coverage for the duration of the placement is also a requirement.
